Monte Alegre lies on the hills near the Mountains of the Axarquía, one of the most beautiful landscapes along the Andalusian coast. Andalusia, located in souther Spain, is known for its diverse landscapes, gentle climate, historical places, and hospitable people. in the middle of a picturesque almond and olive grove.

Monte Alegre belongs to the Alcaucín community of Andalucia. In the neighbouring village of Periana, which is famous throughout the region for its olives, there are many businesses and public institutions, including a post office, a medical center, banks, restaurants and schools. The next two larger cities are Vélez-Málaga, the capital of the province of Axarquía, and Torre del Mar. They offer an extensive infrastructure, shopping centres, leisure facilities and a very well-equipped hospital.
Only a few kilometers away from Monte Alegre lies the well-known healing well of Alhama de Granada. The Mezquita de Córdoba, the third biggest mosque in the world, was built in the 8th century by Moors and is truly worth seeing. In the 14th century the captivating Alhambra was established in Granada. This former residence of the
Moor rulers is visited by many thousands each year. Artistic ornaments, colored tiles and delightful trick fountains give the Alhambra an Oriental charm.
International connections
The international airports of Málaga, Jerez, Sevilla and Almería as well as the national airport of Granada guarantee easy and convenient access.
From the Pablo Picasso airport in Málaga you can reach Monte Alegre within 50 minutes by the highway toward Vélez-Málaga and the motorway toward Alhama over Periana.
Many highways connect the most important cities of Andalusia with the capital. Madrid is easily within reach via the high-speed train. And there is also a well connected bus network that connects the South with the inland.
